Meet The 2026 Winner

Ansley Parish Council is delighted to announce that Andy Down has been named the winner of the 2026 Heather Norgrove Community Spirit Cup, in recognition of his outstanding commitment, dedication and practical support to the local community.

This prestigious award celebrates those whose selfless service, leadership and willingness to help others reflect the values that Heather championed throughout her life.

Andy was selected by the judging panel following a number of exceptional nominations, recognising the countless hours he dedicates to supporting community groups, events and local initiatives across Ansley.

Often working behind the scenes, Andy is known as the person who simply gets things done. From transporting equipment and setting up community events, to supporting the Ansley Village Gardening Club, helping deliver the successful annual Plant Sale, and playing a vital role in the inaugural Back in Time event, Andy's practical skills, reliability and willingness to lend a hand have become invaluable to so many local projects.

His contribution has also been instrumental in supporting Ansley's continued success in Britain in Bloom, helping the village achieve a second consecutive Gold Award through his year-round work maintaining displays, transporting materials and preparing sites for judging.

While much of Andy's work takes place quietly behind the scenes, the impact of his efforts is seen throughout the parish. His generosity with his time, positive attitude and unwavering commitment embody the true meaning of community spirit.

Congratulations, Andy, on this thoroughly deserved recognition. Thank you for everything you do to make Ansley such a wonderful place to live.

The Heather Norgrove Community Spirit Cup is awarded annually by Cllr Adrian Norgrove (Heather's husband) to recognise a local resident who have gone above and beyond in serving their community, ensuring Heather's legacy of dedication, kindness and community leadership continues to inspire future generations.

About The Award

Late Chairman Councillor Heather Norgrove

The Heather Norgrove Community Spirit Cup is dedicated in memory of former Ansley Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Heather Norgrove.

Heather showed exceptional dedication, leadership and service to the parish. This award continues her legacy by celebrating local residents who go above and beyond to make a positive difference.

The cup, created in 2025 is presented annually by Heather's husband, Cllr Adrian Norgrove and his family at an annual award presentation.

Live in the Parish

The nominee must live in either Ansley Village, Ansley Common, Birchley Heath or Church End.

Self nominations are not permitted.

Active in the Parish

The nominee must have an active part in village life and the local community.

Annual Award

As this is an annual award process. The nominee's application must cover the 12 month period June to June per year.

Award Criteria

2025 Winner

The first ever winner of The Heather Norgrove Community Spirit Cup was Lindsay Kearns.

For 2025, Lindsay worked tirelessly at Hood Lane Farm organising over 87 community events and was the coordinator of Party in the Park that year.

Lindsay is always ready to help out with anything going in Ansley. The word 'no' is never on her mind.
